Lamar Jackson’s Surprise Acting Debut in ‘Raising Kanan’ Stuns 50 Cent & Fans—Is Hollywood His Next Move?

Lamar Jackson's acting debut in 'Raising Kanan' draws attention from 50 Cent and fans | Marca

Lamar Jackson has always been known for his explosive speed and remarkable skills on the football field. But now, the Baltimore Ravens‘ star quarterback is making headlines for a very different reason-his acting debut on the hit show Power Book III: Raising Kanan.

Jackson’s entry into Hollywood has been met with a mix of excitement and curiosity, especially after 50 Cent, the executive producer of the show, praised the quarterback’s performance.

Sharing his excitement on Twitter, 50 Cent wrote: “Yes I’m turning it up notch! Lamar Jackson tonight in Raising Kanan we sucker free! @Lj_era8 BOOM.”

Jackson‘s response? Pure simplicity and swagger. Without uttering a single word, he replied with two muscle-flex emojis. That’s classic Lamar-letting his actions (or in this case, emojis) do the talking.

The two-time MVP continues to impress on the field, finishing the 2024 NFL season with a 77.3 QBR and 41 touchdowns.

But now, he’s testing his talents in a completely different arena-playing the role of E-Tone, a dangerous and deadly enforcer in the gritty world of 1990s New York.

The role has drawn considerable attention, not just because it’s Jackson’s first significant foray into acting, but because of the character’s intensity.

As Jackson described it, E-Tone is a character you do not want to cross. His scenes alongside Joey Bada$$, who plays the notorious kingpin Unique, highlight a side of Jackson fans haven’t seen before.

Interestingly, Jackson’s interest in appearing on Raising Kanan was no secret. Back in December 2023, he tweeted, “Raising Kanan so Gas I wanna be in a few episodes.”

The opportunity materialized quickly, proving once again that Jackson‘s ambition goes beyond just dominating the NFL.

On Instagram, he shared his excitement, writing: “I’m so excited for fans to see me in this new role and thrilled to be a part of ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan.'”

While Jackson‘s acting debut has received praise from some quarters, it has also drawn criticism from fans who question his dedication to football.

With the Ravens‘ disappointing divisional-round playoff loss to Buffalo last season, some critics are suggesting Jackson is taking on too much.

But for Jackson, this acting gig seems to be less about distraction and more about personal growth.

Like the NFL greats before him who dabbled in entertainment-think Deion Sanders‘ dual-sport career or Terry Bradshaw‘s movie appearances-Jackson is looking to expand his influence beyond football.

Even 50 Cent, who knows a thing or two about reinventing oneself, praised Jackson‘s approach. Referring to his performance as “sucker free,” the rapper-producer emphasized that Jackson‘s talent is undeniable.

Whether his transition to acting will have a lasting impact remains to be seen, but the buzz surrounding his debut has certainly captured people’s attention.

The question now is whether Lamar Jackson‘s time as E-Tone will fuel his drive on the field. After all, Jackson’s career has always been defined by overcoming obstacles and proving doubters wrong.
